Dear friends,
This month’s review marks a shift in form for my diary. As you will see in the review, I stumbled upon the work of the great Latvian poet and filmmaker Jonas Mekas. I felt deeply inspired, both in form and absolute dedication, to understand filmmaking as a way to keep a diary, a visual notebook, and an art form.
Notes from the Lab will consist of personal diaries, essays on creativity and photography, and glimpses behind the scenes. Still, I will move forward a little more freely, breaking the chains of a bi-weekly schedule and allowing myself to experiment more with form and content.
These reviews will be an eclectic mix of notes, personal documentation, and fragments of work.
